91st Speech & Prize-Giving Day

Nan Hua High School celebrated its 91st Speech and Prize-Giving Day on Friday, 25 April 2008. Generations who belong to the Nan Hua Family thronged the school hall, embodying the theme ‘Continuing Legacy, Creating Possibilities’ -- Nan Hua High friends and alumni celebrating the achievements of Nan Hua High students and benefactors.

The Guest-of-Honour Mr Goh Tong Pak, Group CEO of BreadTalk Group Ltd, demonstrated what being effectively bilingual meant when he sketched the meteoric rise of BreadTalk in English, and then related two thought-provoking and motivational stories in Chinese. The first exhorted us to consider opportunity costs and to be nimble enough to exploit open doors, and the second to shrewdly tie our own future with that of an influential person. These insights certainly gave all present much to chew on!

Valedictorian Letts Tan Ang Ching of class 401 (2007) gave a heartfelt speech on his journey in Nan Hua High and how he grew to love the National Police Cadet Corps. Noting that he continues to volunteer in this area, he urged all present to never forgo an experience because it was unsolicited or because of its attendant responsibilities, as it might well become one’s passion. Turning to the graduating Secondary 4 cohort, he encouraged them to run their final lap with their all. May his stirring words inspire many!

As with the theme of the evening, 2008 is a time for looking back at our many achievements and also for looking forward to the varied opportunities that lie ahead of us. As students and staff forge new pathways towards success, they do so with the knowledge that they are continuing an illustrious line of stellar achievers.

General Guidelines Before Taking Your IPPT/NAPFA

Drink plenty of water the night before to hydrate yourself
Rest early and try to ensure your body get a minimum of 8 hours of rest
Try to avoid doing strenuous exercise the day before your test so as to let your muscles relax
Avoid drinking too much water just before your test (2-3 mouthfuls of water to wet your mouth will suffice)
** Do a thorough WARM-UP from HEAD to TOE (at least 10-15 minutes) before commencing with the test.
After the test, do a thorough COOL-DOWN from TOE to HEAD.Calm yourself and take the test as it comes

SPF-NPCC BADGE AWARDS 2008

Every year, NPCC HQ awards the SPF-NPCC Badge to the top 2% of NPCC Cadets in Singapore in recognition of the outstanding leadership qualities.

We are proud to announce the cadets from NHNP who have acheived the above-mentioned award!

They are as follows:

SI (NPCC) Nicholas Tong (Currently SSGT)
SSGT (NPCC) Tan Yan Ting

Once again, let's congratulate them on attaining the penultinate award in NPCC and in doing the Unit proud! The awards ceremony will be held at the Home Team Academy on 18 April 2008 (Friday).

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank ALL NCOs for their contributions to the Unit thus far!

We hope to see our junior and future NCOs to follow the tradition and attain this award in the nesr future; Jiayou!
